This weekly group is designed to offer postpartum moms a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can:
- Share and process their authentic experiences
- Learn about maternal mental health
- Receive support from a community of other moms
Nurture begins in February 2018, and will meet every week for 8 weeks, from 9:30am to 11am. Stay tuned for more details.
Cost of the group is $40 per session or $300 for the 8-week series and is limited to 8 participants. If a group is already full, I’ll be glad to add you to my list for the next cycle.
Though I do serve as a moderator and facilitator, this group belongs to you. My only goal is to help each mom feel heard, seen, supported, and nurtured. We share our feelings and experiences just as they are – there is no right or wrong way to experience motherhood.
Each session will include:
• An informal presentation on a topic related to maternal mental health and motherhood
• A guided meditation
• Open, supportive discussion about challenges, successes, insights, and emotions
Weekly topics will include but are not limited to:
Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders • Birth stories and birth trauma • Self-care
Managing sleep • Relationship with your partner • Bonding with your baby
Body image and sexuality • Personal identity and transformation
Also offered: an optional private Facebook group for continued support, processing, and information between sessions.
Babies, whether they are nursing, bottle-feeding, crying, sleeping, or playing are more than welcome. Unfortunately, I am not able to accommodate children older than 2. You are also welcome to not bring your child(ren)! Many women find it preferable to leave their babies with a trusted provider so they may focus on themselves during the group. The decision to bring your baby is entirely your own.
If you’d like to discuss further or if the age restriction presents a major barrier to your participation, please contact me.
Nurture is designed to support and affirm diverse parenting experiences, including single and divorced parents, LGBTQ+ parents, and adoptive parents. Nurture will never discriminate or support bias based on race, culture, religion, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or birth/parenting choices.
Everything discussed in support group meetings is entirely confidential.
